During the last week I have had occasion to run into two of our former students. They both reported that they have been riding and using the skills that they learned in class. I found it very interesting that both students would have similar storys regarding their riding experiences.
Both students told me about incidents where their, recently learned, riding skills helped get them out of difficult situations. In both cases they said that they had experienced the unforgetful adventure of a situation with too much speed in conjunction with poor technique. The saving grace is that when they needed it the most they said that they could hear their instructors voice telling them “press more”, or “squeeze”. Acording to both riders, their memory of their instructors voice coaching them on proper technique may have saved their lives. Wow!!
I can’t help but think that there have been many motorcycle related accidents where no instructors voice was heard. If you are going to ride please get training. If you already are riding and have taken a motorcycle safety class do all of your riding buddies a favor and tell them to get motorcycle safety training. At BEST we’ll work with you to promote safe and sane motorcycle riding.
