Last week I received a call from a former student. He informed me that on September 5th, 2009 he lost a friend and co-worker resulting from a motorcycle accident. The following weekend this student came to our range during a BRC and brought a photo of his late friend. As I looked at the photo of this young Marine standing in front of the U.S. Flag in his dress blues, I couldn’t help but feel a distant connection resulting from my service in the Marine Corp and our shared love of motorcycles.
In honor of this brother biker and former Marine I submit the following details regarding his life and family:
Ricardo “Rico” Chico Moreno, 26, who worked in Fort Worth as an instrumentation mechanic, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2009. Graveside services were held Friday September 11th at the National Cemetary in Dallas Texas. During his service in the U.S. Marine Corp, Rico was an aircraft mechanic, serving in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Rico was a loving son, brother, father and friend who was “Always Faithful” and will be missed by all who knew him.
On behalf of Biker Elite Skills Training, we offer our thoughts and prayers to Rico’s Family: Son Austin, Father Rico Sr., Mother Anna, Sisters Christina, Veronica and Anna, Brother Juan, StepmotherYaya, Stepbrother T.J., and Grandparents Juan and Manuela Ramirez and Pete Smith. We pray that you will all find peace in this time of loss.
Out of respect for this brothers family members and without their consent we will not post details of this tragic accident. Let this be a reminder to all of our family of motorcycle riders that we enjoy a sport that is risky. Although we love to ride we must always be mindful of the risk that we take every time we ride.
